Books are the eyes to an authors mind. The nerves that tell of emotions, thoughts and insights. Written words are songs of the soul embodied in glorious parchment.

Simply put, I just love books. They are amazing! One downside though, for a broke guy like me, reading is freaking expensive! I can hardly afford to buy books and most of the time I normally have to compromise and give up one of my life’s necessities in order to buy sustenance for my curious brain.

Then here comes the Internet with the process of more books than I can ever read without having to ever cough out a dime. Here is a list of 5 of the best free e-libraries out there:

Project Gutenberg

Boasting of around 56000 free e-documents, project Gutenberg is my favorite e-library. The first place where I read ‘El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quijote De La Mancha‘ or where I enjoyed the tragedies of Shakespeare’s ‘Titus Andronicus‘.

The ebooks are available in several formats like ePUB, Kindle, HTML and plain-text.

Hundred Zeros

A collection of Kindle best sellers that have converted to become free. You will find books such as  ‘Sherlock Holmes: the Ultimate Collection’, ‘The Ghost of Blackwood Lane’ and many others.

You will need to download the free kindle app to read these books.


This websites just links free eBooks from other websites. You can download thousands of books from a wide range of categories.

Boasts of over 30000 free ebooks that you can easily get. You can get books for Kindle, Nook, iPad and most other eReaders.

Internet Archive

Internet Archive is a non profit library of millions of free eBooks, music, software, movies, games etc.
